  • What is future of Ntld?

    Hello,

Anyone could predict a short and long term future of ngtld domains?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

If you're talking about new GTLDs, I feel some of them have very good use-case scenarios. Take, for example, .BLOG, which publishers can easily buy instead of a second-level domain and continue. Incase the original top level domains are unavailable, and I were to make a landing page for my app, instead of grabbing a long domain like myappnamedownload.com, I would prefer grabbing myappname.app. Some extensions, that have realistic use-case scenarios, are sure to have a bright future, but that future is a good distance away. Why? Let's see.

The value of the original TLDs (com, net, org) still shouldn't be in danger, as they're still the face of the internet. The domain name market, despite achieving hundreds of thousands of premium sales every year, has not been able to educate enough people on domain names. If you ask a well-educated person (who's not a hardcore internet user) about TLDs, they'll only be able to tell you about COM, NET, ORG, and some country codes.

Add to that, there's no guarantee of the future of these new domains, atleast as of now, so running a business entirely on a new TLD will make me nervous. I personally would use them as short domains or forwarders or just one-page landing pages.

      Thanks,

.blog has a limitation of commercialisation.
It may limit up to make specific niche blogs.

      What you think for....

      .pro
      .guru
      .zone
      .site
      .media
      .work

      Etc

      Thanks,

Future is definitely there for nGTLDs (New Generic Top Level Domains) however it's going to take some time for them to penetrate in the mindset of general public before they start accepting them as normal right of the dot extesions similar to .COM, .NET, .ORG or .IN :-)

Lot to learn from this website, they planned things very well and using sub-domains extremely well.

                That's an amazing use-case of a ngTLD :-)

Do some research about the product and see if it has some commercial value to work and receive return on it.
